授業の目的?内容 ／Course Objectives	□Content This course is the introduction to the study of the English language. Students learn some technical subjects (e.g., grammar, phonetics, spelling) as well as cultural and literary issues (e.g., varieties of English, loanwords, the haiku). □Reading/Listening & Discussion ?Read and listen to the materials on  some themes in the textbook ?Express ideas and thoughts about the topics in detail. □Writing & Presentations ?Write a research paper on the course topic with appropriate citation (600-900 words + bibliography) ?Make a visually aided presentation of the paper Class is taught and participated in English.
授業の形式?方法と履修上の注意 ／Teaching method and Attention the course	This course assumes an interactive approach, which requires engaged participation from all members of the class. Also, students must write a research paper that weighs heavily for the final grade. Therefore, all writing courses (I-IV) must be satisfactorily completed before taking this course. Needless to say, regular and punctual attendance is expected and mandatory. #The schedule is subject to change on the needs of the class.
